Pretty River Valley Country Inn has four Seasons of activities at the Inn as well as within the immediate vicinity. Hike our 125 acres of maintained trails on the Niagara Escarpment that provides panoramic views of Georgian Bay and surrounding area. Comfortable seating throughout the property provides time to relax and read that favourite book! The salt water swimming pool and outdoor/indoor hot tubs are always a must after a vigorous hike. Down the road is the entrance to the Pretty River Valley Provincial Park as well as access to the Bruce Trail. In winter borrow our Snow Shoes to tramp through our orchards, escarpment trails and fields.

Ski Blue Mountain Resort:
Ontario’s finest mountain is 20 minutes away offering a ski experience for all levels of expertise. The pedestrian village is a wonderful place to enjoy numerous restaurants and bars.
Cross country skiing:
Numerous cross country centres are but a few minutes away from the Inn. Highlands Nordic have hosted the Nationals in Canada and are less than 10 minutes away. Blue Mountain Nordic Centre at Scenic Caves Nature Reserve is a magical place to explore the Blue Mountains on skis or on snow shoes. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park Blueberry Trails Nordic Centre participates in a special pass that allows you to ski all three locations for one low cost.

Enjoy Ontario’s most beautiful OFSC snowmobile trails Ride on Rentals B111 and 701 are minutes from the Inn. Parking and gas available at the Inn for Snowmobiles.
Scenic Caves Nature Adventures:
One of Canada’s Great Natural Wonders, The Scenic Caves is located at the highest part of the Niagara Escarpment, 20 minutes away from the Inn. Be part of the EcoAdventure Tour and walk 60 metres above the forest floor and clipped to a cable soar on a Zip line from cliff top back to earth! Perhaps a bit more sedately view the panoramic views from the longest suspension footbridge in Ontario – 126 metres long. There is something for everyone at the Scenic Caves.
Canoeing and Kayaking:
Two main rivers of the Georgian Triangle will provide pleasure for the novice and experienced canoeist & kayaker alike. From tranquil dunes (Wasaga Beach dune complex) the largest group of parabolic sand dunes in the Province to the fast-flowing Beaver River. Rock Climbing, Caving, and other outdoor pursuits are available minutes away from the Inn. Whether on your own or through Free Spirit Tours the spectacular Blue Mountain and Pretty River adventures are available to all.
The Bruce Trail:
Canada’s oldest and longest footpath provides the only public access to the magnificent Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. It is one of only twelve such reserves in all of Canada. The trails are minutes away (1.9 km) from the Inn with arranged pick-up/delivery & packed lunches.
Take an open air gondola up Blue Mountain with your bike and ride your mountain bike down. The famous "Three Stages" from Gibralter down through the Pretty River Valley Provincial Park" is a great ride for the experienced and is less than 10 minute from the Inn. The Georgian Trail 32km linear trail follows a former railroad line from Collingwood to Meaford. INSERT TOURIST LINK Official road biking trails start 1Km from the Inn. Situated on the world's longest freshwater beach on beautiful Georgian Bay, Wasaga Beach has something for everyone. The 14 kilometre beachfront is nestled on the southerly reach of Georgian Bay overlooking Blue Mountain twenty minutes from the Inn.
Visit the second highest waterfall in Ontario (23metres) in Eugenia or perhaps visit all of our famous waterfalls in a self guided tour Grey Highlands
Take an hour or two or perhaps even a day, for glorious fall colour tours, hikes, cycling or driving in the Georgian Triangle. It’s a rural adventure where you can enjoy quiet, wooded roads which lead you through the full splendour of fall in the country. Some tours have specially designated look-out areas where you can view the glorious fall colours for miles around as well as being able to see far out over Georgian Bay. There is no shortage of scenic routes in the area which are specially signed but there are also many other places you can investigate on your own, by car, on foot or mountain bike.
Fall fairs harkens back to a time when life appeared to have had a slower pace. Check out the local tourist office for dates for upcoming fairs.

Lochanbec School of Flyfishing in the Pretty River Valley:
Minutes from the Inn is a 30 acre Fly Fishing retreat on the headwaters of the Pretty River with a 4 acres pond stocked with wild brook and rainbow trout. Whether a beginner or looking for advanced guidance in Fly tying or double hauling etc., Dave has the patience to assist all who have the fascinating interest in fly fishing. During the year guests have many opportunities to view both Gallery exhibits as well as popular Studio tours. "Fall Colour Studio Tour Weekend" firstname.lastname@example.org is a popular tour for our guests to come and enjoy both art and the glorious fall colours. Spring brings us the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts www.bmfa.on.ca “Annual Town & Country” tour. 2013 featured over 80 artists throughout the area showcasing their art. The area is rich with both local artists and art schools. One art school is the "Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting" drawing both teachers and students from around the world.

Minutes away Creemore is where one of Ontario’s favorite beers—Creemore Springs Premium Lager, is made in a century-old main building right in the heart of this beautiful town. Harrowsmith voted Creemore one of the prettiest towns in Canada. Tours and tastings make this a favorite place for many of our guests to visit. One of our favourite restaurants that has made its home in Creemore is Chez Michel also on the main street. Another destination that our guests make a habit of stopping in at is “Mrs. Mitchell’s” a marvelous restaurant to dine at on the way to the Inn from Toronto or for tea on the way home on Sunday.

The Georgian Bay area is home to five independent OVA members all focused on a quality product. Coffin Ridge Winery www.coffinridge.ca has recently celebrated the opening of their Winery overlooking Georgian Bay. This is the first of Grey County’s wineries. Enjoy a wine tasting (Thursday to Sunday) and walk through the vineyard property. Perhaps a glass of wine and a Vintner’s plate made up of local artisan breads and cheeses will tempt you while there! Relax on the deck and listen to music and enjoy the glorious views. Winding your way back to the Inn along Georgian Bay I would be remiss to not mention a jewel in our crown regarding beverages!
Thornbury Village Cidery http://www.peelercider.com & Beaver Valley Orchard and Cidery http://www.bvcider.com are two wonderful additions to beverages in the area sourced from local fruit. Cider a popular drink in the U.K., France and Spain is a delightful beverage made from the fermented juice of apples. Available in both kegs and bottles a glass ‘Peeler Cider’ can be enjoyed in numerous establishments in Thornbury one of my favourites being “The Dam Pub” at 53 Bruce St. (the main street.) Beaver Valley Orchard & Cidery is open for tastings as of May 15th.
